There are five devoted Occupational Therapists working at Jeane Kolbe Occupational Therapy.

Therapists

Jeane Kolbe

Jeane is the founder of Jeane Kolbe Occupational Therapy. When not giving her heart and soul to the practise and the children and families with which she works, she can be found spending time with her gorgeous family and planning trips to the Kruger National Park.

Jeane graduated from the University of the Free State in 2009, after which she worked at Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital to complete her community service year. In order to follow her passion to work with children and adults with psychiatric diagnosis, her practice was established in 2012 and has grown in leaps and bounds.

She completed her Sensory Integration qualification (SAISI) in 2013. Prior to this she obtained post-graduate qualifications in Problem Behaviour in Children (UNISA), play therapy (REDSHOE), Neonatal development (MEDI-CLINIC) and has done a course in DIR/Floortime (GREENSPAN). Her learning did not stop there and she also completed her CVI training through Christene Roman Lantzy. Jeane believes reflexes cannot be ignored and have a massive influence on all areas of development so she has also completed level 1,2 and 3 of the RMT program to assist with reflex integration.

‘Passion, care, joy and energy’ are the words best used by her team to describe Jeane and she is a blessing to have as head of the practise.

Sadie Page

Sadie Page – soon to be Mrs Stroud – is a familiar friendly face in the practise. She has been with the team since 2021 and has taken on extra responsibilities and roles with ease as she grows and learns.

Her work ethic, passion and dedication towards the field is evident - she graduated with a BSc (OT), as the top graduate of her class, in 2019 from the University of Witwatersrand. Thereafter, Sadie completed her community service year at Brits District Hospital in 2020. Here, she found a great passion for improving the paediatrics’ care being provided for the patient population. This became an integral part of her journey as an OT and has shaped her path forwards. As a passion-project during community service, she created a therapeutic and child-friendly treatment room for the patients to be treated more effectively as well as created a neonatal program for the premature infants at the hospital.

Sadie has completed her Sensory Integration training and is now a registered therapist with SAISI. In 2023 she also completed level one training of SOS feeding therapy and is enjoying helping our fussy eaters. Her love and care for children is obvious in her work!

Lisa Schlebusch

Calm, collected, gracious and diligent – all these beautifully describe Lisa.

Lisa graduated with a BSc (OT) from the University of Witwatersrand, as the top student of her class, in 2020. Thereafter, she worked at Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital to complete her community service in 2021. She has seen a variety of paediatric and psychiatric conditions including developmental delay, CP, ASD, burns, schizophrenia, substance use, PD and mood disorders. It was here that Lisa developed a special interest in child and adult mental health. She is passionate about working with the client alongside their families to ensure they are able to cope with the demands of their environment.

We look forward to adding a ‘masters degree’ to Lisa’s many accomplishments soon! In 2024, she is beginning her Sensory Integration training whilst also pursuing postgraduate training at Wits University.

Carla Jones

Carla joined the team as a locum while Jeane was getting to know her new bundle of joy in 2021. After seeing how her dedication and focus produced amazing clinical results and she has been such an asset to the practise in her locum time there, her team refused to let her leave and we are blessed to have Carla continue in a permanent position.

She graduated with a BSc Occupational Therapy from the University of the Witwatersrand in 2020. Her love for paediatric OT bloomed whilst completing a few practical weeks at a special needs school in her fourth year of study and continued to grow as she worked with many children after that. This included her time during her community service year at Daveyton Main Clinic, doing outreach to various clinics in the surrounding areas. Here she worked with a variety of conditions, including CP, developmental delay, and ASD.

After her community service year she spent four months at a special needs school in Springs and really got to focus on holistic therapy by working closely with the children, families, and teachers. As part of a large OT team, she was responsible for the grade 2 and 3 classes who had mainly ADHD and ASD diagnosis.

Carla is such an asset to the practise and we are blessed to have her.

Jennifer Sinclair

“Always remember you are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think” – A.A. Milne.

This is one of Jen’s favourite quotes. Throughout her interaction with her clients, she aims to help them to believe this quote, and to grow in confidence to see their own potential.  Ever since she can remember, Jen has felt drawn to a career which enables her to work in collaboration with people to enrich their lives and create positive change. Occupational therapy has helped her to meet this aspiration.  Furthermore, through experience at Red Cross Children’s Hospital, a variety under-resourced schools for children with disabilities, mainstream schools, and in the Baragwanath paediatric wards and burns unit, as well as in private practice; she has realised her passion for working with children and their families in an individualised, family-centred approach to help children to thrive.

Jen studied a BSc Occupational Therapy degree at the University of Cape Town where she completed her studies cum laude in 2020 at the top of her class. Thereafter, she was privileged to serve her Community Service year at Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital where she gained invaluable experience and opportunity to work within a multidisciplinary team before branching out in 2022 into private paediatric practice, including school-based therapy.

All paediatric therapy holds a very special place in her heart, but Jen has a passion for neonatal therapy and early childhood intervention for children with genetic syndromes, sensory difficulties, or developmental delays. She is someone who values continuous learning and strives to give the best quality care to her clients.  In pursuit of service excellence, Jen is always eager to attend courses to update her skills and to learn about the most recent treatment techniques. She has completed the introductory DIR-Floortime Approach and is in the process of completing her postgraduate training in Ayres Sensory Integration.
